game camera mountain lion
How many ways to identify a Mountain Lyon?
Sunday I lost a 500 to 600 Lb. calf. The calf had its insides riped from the sternum to the pelvic and all insides were gone. One quarter was eaten clean. The tracks were first thought to be dogs. I looked up a lion tracks and as best I could tell they were a cats tracks.
We have had little experience here in North East Al. with the big cats. There were no visible marks on the calf's neck.
One fellow who watches lots of TV said the cat would grab the animal by the neck--crush the wind pipe and then cut its insides out while it was knocked out
There has been lots of sitings in this area and the fellow up north of me had a game camera out last year and got a picture of one.The photo shows a pretty brown cat. A lady south of me saw a big black cat on two occasions. We never hear them or I have not.
What about my observation ? There was lots of meat for one to eat?
How about you call a local DNR (Department of Natural Resources) and let them take care of your problem.
