The father of Madeleine McCann stunned hotel staff by organizing a game of tennis, while the massive hunt his daughter was going, was unveiled yesterday. Waiter Jose Baptista, 45, told how staff were surprised by the calm attitude of his wife Kate and Gerry McCann in the painful days after Madeleine disappeared. Heart specialist Gerry, 39, is also said to have wandered into the regular tapas bar in the family holiday complex, where he was given free bottles of wine to take back to his apartment. Mr Baptista added that staff at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz rarely saw the McCanns display any emotion away from the television cameras. "If my kid disappeared I love. I could not function. They would have me behind bars," says Mr Baptista. "They were so cool about. All staff comment on how they were able to play tennis and take things quietly. Everyone around them seemed more upset than they were.
