what led infrared wavelength is required?

This is a crazy idea. I would say something fairly close to the visible spectrum - I think that one of Radio Shack would work. You can use a digital camera to the photo of the LED: If no image then it is too far from the wavelength, where the LEDs emit in the correct range This is a big bright spot in the picture. The key will be what wavelengths the cameras detect it. If the camera is strictly keyed to visual light, the idea will not work. Also be careful with the use of such devices around your eyes.
