What is a good way to infrared pictures?

I want to take photos in the infrared. What are my options? I would prefer a point & Shoot digital camera, but I think that I luck. I would like a camera that records a few different wavelenghs of infrared light as separate primaries. Is there such a thing? Are there camcorders that do this? How good is the picture quality for photos?

There are cameras specifically designed to image the 700 + nanometer wavelength spectrum. They work best. Filters are available for ordinary cameras, but cut much light. Check camera accessory suppliers for more information. Some cameras have an IR cut-off filter is installed, so check with the manufacturer, as you would not be able to successfully these cameras to use. Good luck.
