infrared camera photography
Will this IR filter works well?
I'm thinking of order a few things from one thing to place my camera, and I'm considering an infrared filter. I not know much about infrared photography, other than it looks cool and I would like to dabble in a bit. However, as the poor student I am, I need to find one cheap. I found This one - B + W 52mm Infrared Filter # 099 (12/OG550). Amazon link http://www.amazon.com/BW-77mm-Infrared-Filter/dp/B0000BZLAY/ref=pd_ts_p_1?ie=UTF8&s=photo I am using a Panasonic FZ7. I need to know whether this will work (I've read that it is not always with newer cameras), and that filter is what I want ... Remember, just play with it, I do not something very expensive. I need someone who knows about infrared to tell me if that is good. Thank you.
You'll probably wasting money. All Digital camera sensors are IR-IR cut-off filters that prohibit the achievement of the sensor ... The IR filter allows only through the lens ... You see the problem. This filter will work very well if you those placed on a Nikon lens (52mm) on a Nikon 35mm SLR and use Kodak High Speed IR film. (with some photographic skills ... rather like using a tripod to hold the camera, pre-focus before the filter on the lens (you can not see through) and then de-focus the lens to reflect the different focus point of IR light) More on IR: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/ir.htm
