Infrared thermography Revolutionary Home Inspection Industry
I used to go home inspections just like anyone else. About nine months ago, a wise person convinced me to dive into hi-technology with every aspect of my business. One of the first things I invested in a state of the art infrared thermography camera (IRT) is used. After $ 7,000 invested, then there is an educational classes conquered, I immediately saw the value of this device. I am absolutely convinced that IRT will be a necessary tool for every home inspector in the near future. The very first home inspection performed, while I with my IR camera has a separate problem, which would not, and can not be identified by any other means short of physical destruction of a wall in the master bedroom. Because of my inexperience with the new IR camera, coupled with notable exception in my viewfinder, I had my educational tools to consult to confirm what I saw was in fact true ... and correctly diagnosed by me. What I saw was an entire wall of the bedroom was behind this wall insulation ... but the isolation was only halfway through! And this wall was fully exposed to the elements ... It was not an inside wall. As shown, there was a company come and blow insulation in the wall that was part of a supplement. Whether they were in a hurry, or they wanted to economize on materials and some money, save or they just did not know what they were doing. Anyway ... The new owner was excited about finding this problem. Without IR technology, the existing situation have gone unnoticed, the master bedroom would have been difficult (and expensive) to heat in winter, and difficult (and expensive) to cool in the summer. The house owner has the hard evidence that the insulation contractor who came back and fixed their mistake without question. The next house I inspected a few days later had a similar problem that also happened to be one feed. Only this Currently, the contractor building the addition thought nobody would ever know that the drywall is installed ... So he put up the walls with absolutely no insulation at all! Again ... no home inspector would have been able to this problem without an IR camera. In the time since these two inspection, I found many problems through the use my camera. It is able to find mold, termites, mice, even inside the walls. It is also a magical tool for identifying areas that enormous energy cause.
