The disastrous decade and The New Dawn
The first decade of the new century - from 2000 to 2009 - is terrible in terms of natural and economic tsunamis, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, environmental disasters and political debacles.

2007 - UK Gordon Brown replaces Tony Blair as prime minister.
2009 - Barrack Obama elected as the first African American president.
2009 - India's resounding victory in Congressional elections, Manmohan Singh is Prime Minister.
2000 - 2009: Iran, Iraq, Israel, Afghanistan and North Korea remain political tinderboxes.
