Field Test of the Cuddeback Capture IR Digital Scouting Camera
Often when I review a digital camera I will compare with other cameras on the same time and to test them against each other. I must say at the beginning I had some trouble in the past with Cuddeback cameras when it came to missing photos. I am pleased to say that it looks like Cuddeback has solved problem and that is good, because that people can turn away from your product. Situated in a similar setting, only took the Capture few less expensive than a competitor thus confirming Cuddeback to clean it up.
Operation of the Cuddeback Capture
General surgery is not so bad. The camera is easy enough to find, but it is an issue that is a real nuisance. The screen does not say when I remove card switching modes. More than once I have I found that telling the camera that I know out loud! I will not remove the card! Most of us will know not to remove the card at the moment but for those who do not, maybe there is a less frustrating way of letting us know. That's just my opinion.
Another thing that needs a little more technique, the system used for applying this camera to a tree. Many businesses struggle with Cuddeback and this is no exception. In fact, pretty bad. If you set this camera in the woods, make sure you bring a selection of bungee cords to work. The bands that are just not worth the fighting.
Movie Quality
The quality of the Cuddeback Capture is acceptable. If you have good lighting during the day is to take a good picture for you. The problem comes when an animal you off of the sensor, either during sunrise or sunset. The pictures taken at these times were actually washed. I can get an idea of what the animal looked like, but this is something that should be improved. You have a camera that can take decent pictures 24 hours a day, or you do not get all the information you want.
The Cuddeback Capture is not the ability to video. I'm not on the same page as some of my friends about this issue. Personally I do not see much use for video camera in a field, I just used it too much my memory and once I have a picture of the animal, then that is enough. I do not see a small movie of any animal passing. If this is something you want then you better go for something expensive. If not, then this might be a good option for you, because the video capabilities drive the price a bit.
The Cuddeback Capture is not bad, the will decent pictures and has enough functionality to get the job done. If you want to save money or if you want multiple cameras use perhaps a good option. As you want the best picture quality, you might want to move from a model.
