scouting camera trigger time
Review of the Cuddeback Excite Camera
Let me start by saying that I by no means a camera expert. In a way I think this qualifies me for this camera test better than anyone. I can tell you exactly what it is for someone who has not used a digital camera before trail. So far all I had was a 35 mm, I actually stopped using because of the cost of processing. It was not fun to pay for pictures that are sometimes not useful and the mess of having prints are around one million was difficult.
After some research on pricing and features, I settled on the Cuddeback Excite Camera. I have a lot of people use Cuddeback and I wanted a name that I managed to get. The word on the hunting blogs was that the trigger speed was good, the battery life was sufficient and that is a good value for the price. It came in right around $ 250 that my budget fits. I did not spend a fortune to the camera and hear the grumblings of my wife spending money on toys.
Unpacking the Excite
Like I said, I'm no expert when it comes to digital photography. For all of you in the same boat and looking to get in, there are a few extra things you will have to buy and if you use a digital camera course. The unit does not come with an SD card, only a small amount of on-board memory is not sufficient for use. I now knows that this is normal, and you would not wish on an SD card every time you buy a camera purchase, but I wish I knew when I bought it. I meant taking a special trip to the shop after I got the camera home. Where in the shop I also need a few D-size batteries since this device uses four of them.
The batteries in the camera is not as easy as it should be. The locking system is a case the battery enough so I know how to use anything a little easier might be better. I can say that by then I felt a mixture of frustration and anxiety to see what the camera can do.
Using it in the field
Once I got out and took some pictures with her I was happy with what I have. The battery is good as advertised, though not stellar. The picture quality is quite good, excellent in the day, decent night and not so great at dusk. Overall the percentage of images that showed was good to me. I would still recommend this camera to anyone who is looking to get out and do some field photography. Just forget for a SD-card packs (which should set you back about $ 40) and some batteries and you have everything you need for a leg to get that deer.
