Near infrared astronomy during the day?

I was thinking that if the blue sky during the day prevented than astronomy, perhaps the light from the sky could be enough to be dimmed in the near infrared to observe that day. I've read articles about people using webcams with a filter to the camera a homemade near-infrared, but I do not know if the daytime sky is dark enough and if the atmosphere is transparent enough in the near infrared to allow this to happen.

Infrared photography has been around a long time. I have six rolls of 35mm film IR in the freezer. Landscapes can look very nice with IR. Here are two examples. Look at the sky.
