How do I make my HD video camera Night Vision?
I have this Sony's HDR-TG1 (https://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-TG1-Definition-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B0017008HC/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1243731908&sr=8-14) if I attach an infrared light, which does allow me a night vision video recording? Thanks in advance!
Pretty much. What application are you looking for? You will already discovered that your camera has night vision. Your camera is sensitive to infrared light, and will they catch. Prove it, turn it on and register yourself keep the TV remote. Push Buttons on the remote. Play back and see that you can see the light flashing on the remote. The camera sees the IR light, but your eyes. Your night vision camera is already ready. To put it in a night vision camera, you probably want to use in the dark with no * visible * light. So you will need an IR spot light. The size and intensity (brightness) of the spot light will be based on where you. If you like shooting in a small room, it just should be large. To see what your dog does in the backyard at night, you might need something much larger. On TV, when you see night vision images, they are always using a huge IR spot light. You just cannot see this light with your eyes. But you'll note that the images in your shadows you see, so one or two spot light is used. You can search for IR-illumination on the Internet. LED these are available, which are great for short distances of perhaps up to one meters. You can also use IR filters placed than normal lighting. Cheaper, but you see a red glow under this LIGTHS, will not be invisible. I do not know where to them, sorry. Research IR filters. This is what they use in the jungle night vision when taking shots. The animals dont care if a little bit of a red glow. Lighting purely IR alone probably will only be the LED variety, because they have narrow bandwidth spectrum of light. Very bright incandescent lamps are usually LIGTHS (filiment combustion within a glass tube), which a broad spectrum, and filters are used to narrow the spectrum, but the filters are never perfect, hence the red glow of them. Interestingly, a heat source can be used as IR light. Very inefficient though. If you space and electric heating and electric hobs on your stove, turn it on, turn off the light, turn the camera, and you will see that she lights up the room. However, most of the consumed energy is heat and no light.
