What equipment do FO's / foo's / Fister is often used and how such a structured team?
I'm an artillery observer in the Swiss military and wondered what other armies use special equipment ... If we use "hard" (ie digging holes or hiding in buildings), we fitted with a laser range finder, thermal imaging camera and GPS that we attach to an electronic goniometer which calculates target coordinates. These are then sent to a system C4ISTAR (touchscreen computer), which in turn sends all data via radio to the FDC. Would we ever be deployed on foot, the computer and goniometer and stay behind the target manually broadcast over the radio. Our teams consist of 3 privates: driver, radio operator and surveyor / engineer and a (second) lieutenant: the forward observation officer. Where can you any different?
I was the officer for a light infantry battalion. It sounds similar. For a Tank Infantry Company of you have a lieutenant and Staff Sergeant with their Radio Operator at the company headquarters and a FOR team of Corporal or sergeant and a private one with each rifle platoon. Sounds exactly the same gear on.
